Letter to Candidates

The following letter has been sent from the Branch to all candidates in the Council elections:

As a candidate in the forthcoming elections for a position of Councillor within Argyll & Bute Council I am writing to you on behalf of my members seeking clarification on the following issues:

How will you progress issues arising from the current consultation by the existing Council on Single Status / Job Evaluation which will not be detrimental to employees?

How will you protect jobs and services within the authority without reducing staff levels, pay & grading, conditions of service whilst taking into account the level of service and requirements of the authority?

How will you prevent the privatisation of services which is a matter of concern to my members and the electorate in general?

How will you prevent the centralisation of services currently provided by Argyll & Bute Council?

As you will appreciate the above issues are at the forefront of our concerns and your answers will give us an understanding for the protection of your major asset and have a direct influence on the council's aspirations to be the leading rural authority.
