Update from Argyll and Bute Council:

*Please note the following applies to all SJC staff who are on the council’s SLGE pay grades. It is not applicable to teachers or chief officers.

There is now formal agreement of the pay award covering 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2023.

  1. There is agreement on new pay scales, details below.
  2. An ongoing additional day of leave for full time staff which will be proportioned for part time staff. Given the time of the year that this additional leave has been agreed the Council will allow this day to be carried over to be taken in 2023. Note for staff on my Options: records will be updated as quickly as we can over the coming month.

Please note: The ongoing payment of SSSC fees has also been agreed. Details will follow on how payment will be made by The Scottish Government to the SSSC on behalf of employees, and the process for employees claiming reimbursement of any fees incurred from 1 April 2022. If your fees are due before the agreement is reached, please continue to pay your SSSC registration.

Managers, please pass on this information to any team members who are not on the network. The details can be found on MyCouncilWorks.

Part Time Employees

A part time employee will get the same percentage increase as a full time employee on the same grade and spinal Column Point (SCP). In cash terms this will be less as they work fewer hours.

Some Examples:

From SLGE2 on SCP 19 to SLGE4 SCP24 the annual increase is:
20 hour employee gets £1,110
30 hour employee gets £1,666

From SLGE4 on SCP 25 to SLGE11 SCP69 the annual increase is:

20 hour employee gets £1,069
30 hour employee gets £1,604

Term-Time Employees

There are a number of different term time work patterns from 38 to 42 weeks, also term time rates vary with length of service. Calculations are based on a 40 week term time employee with over 10 years service.

From SLGE2 on SCP 19 to SLGE4 SCP24 the annual increase is:

20 hour employee gets £1,005
30 hour employee gets £1,508
35 hour employee gets £1,759

From SLGE4 on SCP 25 to SLGE11 SCP69 the annual increase is:

20 hour employee gets £968.36
30 hour employee gets £1,452
35 hour employee gets £1,694

Casual Workers

Casual pay with holiday uplift will be calculated from the new increased SLGE rates as detailed in table above.

Backdating

This award is for the financial year 22/23.

All payments will be paid from 1st April 2022.

We have agreed with the Trade Unions to make this payment as quickly as we can and prior to Christmas. As the December/January pay runs are the busiest time of the year for Payroll, every attempt will be made to ensure that the revised salaries will be paid from 14th November 2022, a supplementary payrun will pay backdated pay due by 30th November.
